A large and prominent cauldron of simmering
rice leaves no doubt as to the key ingredient of basara's innovative
Japanese menu. Call it "amusing Japanese cuisine," if
you like, because basara is intended to be an informal compliment
to its sister branch, Aoyagi. And the spacious dinning area is designed
for those who desire an unencumbered experience. At lunchtime, the
donburi or rice bowl is featured, especially the gyuniku shigure-don
(beef in sweetened soy sauce over rice). At dinnertime, course menus
feature a wide variety of hearty combinations.
